FULL STEAM AHEAD AS KIDS GO FREE ON THE SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY – WHEN TRAVELLING WITH A FARE PAYING ADULT*

Arriva Midlands and Severn Valley Railway are working together to make travelling by bus and train even easier this summer – with  our great offer of a child goes FREE on the Severn Valley Railway when travelling with a fare paying adult along with the production of a valid voucher from one of Arriva Midlands promotional leaflets or local newspaper adverts and an Arriva Midlands bus ticket showing that day’s date!

Leaflets containing details of the special offer and voucher are widely available on-bus and from local Tourist Information Centres, Libraries, Centro offices at Walsall Bus Station and Wolverhampton Bus Station along with the Travelink office at Telford Town Centre Bus Station.

Getting to the Severn Valley Railway at Bridgnorth couldn’t be simpler with routes 436/437 running up to every 60 minutes daytime Monday to Saturday from Shrewsbury, route 890 running up to every 60 minutes daytime Monday to Saturday from Wolverhampton along with route 99 from Telford Town Centre running up to every 120 minutes day time Monday to Saturday.

Route 436 and route 437 connect at Shrewsbury Bus Station with frequent bus routes across Shropshire. Route 890 connects with other Arriva bus routes at Wolverhampton bus station to Cannock and Featherstone (route 70), Stafford and Penkridge (route 76) and Albrighton, Shifnal, Telford Town Centre and Wellington (route 891/892). Route 99 connects at Telford Town Centre with frequent bus routes across Telford and Shropshire. Free timetables are available from local Centro offices, Telford Travelink, libraries, Tourist Information Centres and Council offices, details are also available from Arriva’s web site on www.arrivabus.co.uk.

Arriva Midlands offer a great range of day and weekly multi journey tickets, these are available from the driver – here are a few examples:

Arriva Day Midlands area ticket: One day unlimited travel across the whole of Arriva Midlands (not valid on Skylink Leicester or Park & Ride services) £4.40  

Arriva Weekly Midlands area ticket: Seven consecutive days unlimited travel across the whole of Arriva Midlands (not valid on Skylink Leicester or Park & Ride services) – £17.50 adult - £10 child

Midlands 10 Trip saver: 10 journeys at a discount price – valid for a calendar month - £17.50

MINOR CHANGE TO BUS TIMES OF ROUTE 152 and ROUTE 153 IN LEICESTER

Minor changes to bus times at Hinckley Road/Mostyn Street are being introduced on journeys leaving Leicester on route 152 (Leicester – Coalville) and route 153 (Leicester – Market Bosworth) from Sunday 29 June 2008.

DOUBLE THE NUMBER OF BUSES BETWEEN HINCKLEY & NUNEATON

The great success of the Nuneaton to Leicester service 158 via Hinckley will see double the number of buses running on this popular route from Monday 30 June 2008 on the section between Nuneaton and Hinckley – previously running hourly route 158 will run up to every 30 minutes daytime Monday to Saturday.

Route 158 provides a regular link between Nuneaton, Hinckley and Leicester along with Barwell and Earl Shilton – ideal for shoppers, workers, hospital visitors and college students.

New timetable leaflets will be available in most local libraries, Tourist Information Centres, Council offices and Arriva’s Travel Shop in St Margaret’s Bus Station. CHANGES ANNOUNCED TO LOCAL BUS ROUTES IN AND AROUND HINCKLEY

Arriva Midlands monitors its bus routes at regular intervals, during recent monitoring the need to make changes to several routes in the Hinckley area has been highlighted.

Detailed below are those changes being introduced from Sunday 29 June 2008.

Route 7: Hinckley - Wykin
Route and timetable withdrawn. Replaced by new route 72 peak hour service combining route 7 and route 72 into one route. Off-peak route 75 replaces route 7 but will also serve parts of Hollycroft and extends to Morrison’s store.

Route 71, 71A: Hinckley - Burbage
Revised timetable. Daytime frequency on route 71 reduced from 15 to 20 minutes. Most buses arriving in Hinckley Town Centre will then operate route 81 to Earl Shilton. Evening route 71A remains unaltered.

Route 72: Hinckley – Hollycroft – Wykin
Revised route and timetable. Peak Hour service combining former route
7 and route 72 into one route.

Route 73: Hinckley – Paddock Way
Route and timetable withdrawn.

Route 74:  Hinckley – Sketchley Meadows
No change to route and timetable.

Route 75: Hinckley – Wykin - Morrisons
New route and timetable. Running up to every 30 minutes off-peak Monday to Saturday.

Route 76: Hinckley - Hollycroft
New route and timetable. Running up to every 30 minutes off-peak Monday to Saturday serving Hollycroft and adjacent new housing development.

Route 81, 81A: Hinckley – Ashby Road – Earl Shilton Estates
Revised timetable. Buses run up to every 20 minutes daytime Monday to Saturday, there is no change to evening buses on route 81A. Most buses arriving in Hinckley Town Centre will then operate route 71 to Burbage.

Route 82: Hinckley - Barwell   
Revised timetable. Buses will run up to every 15 minutes daytime Monday to Saturday with most buses running into Hinckley via Mansion Street, Trinity Lane and Regent Street.

Route 158: Leicester – Hinckley – Nuneaton
Revised route and timetable. More journeys will now operate to Nuneaton instead of terminating in Hinckley with buses running up to every 30 minutes daytime Monday to Saturday. The route between Hinckley and Nuneaton will be revised with buses no longer serving St Nicholas Park as buses will run directly along Hinckley Road providing a quicker journey.

UNIVERSITY BUS ROUTES SUSPENDED DURING SUMMER VACATION

The current timetable on services 80/80A operating each term primarily for Leicester University students will run until Friday 27 June 2008 and will recommence at the start of the new academic year. Details will be announced at a later date.

Alternative services operate throughout the year as follows:

City Centre to University
Service 48 (return on service 47) departs from St Margaret’s Bus Station, Charles Street and outside Railway Station and runs up to every 15 minutes daytime Monday to Saturday – there are evening and Sunday bus too!

City Centre to London Road
Services 31/31A (stop within walking distance of Halls of Residence) depart from Charles Street and outside Leicester Railway Station – the combined services runs up to every 6 minutes daytime Monday to Saturday – there are evening and Sunday buses too!

Timetable leaflets are available at most local Libraries, Tourist Information Centres, Council Offices, St Margaret’s Bus Station and Arriva Midlands Travel Shop, St Margaret’s Bus Station, Leicester.

ROUTE X1 TIMETABLE REVISED

Arriva Midlands monitors its bus routes at regular intervals, during recent monitoring the need to make changes to bus times on service X1 running between Coalville, Bagworth, Thornton and Leicester has been highlighted.

Service X1 continues to run up to every 60 minutes daytime Monday to Saturday between Coalville and Leicester. New timetable leaflets will be available from local libraries, council offices and Arriva’s Travel Shop in St Margaret’s Bus Station, Leicester.

Arriva Midlands has recently launched a Green Travel Scheme designed to allow all employers and organisations, access to discounted bus travel for their employees.
